Japan crowned Pacific Nations Cup Champions

Japan last won the title in 2014 and seem to have their World Cup preparation sorted out with under 50 days until they host the competition. 

Japan looked in control of hteir set piece throughout the compeition with Leitch and Labuschagne dominating aspects of the game while Yu Tamura has been incredible at 10. Kotaro Matsushima has also been a stand out player at the back with Fukuoka showing superb finishing skills to add to his blistering pace.


Japan are in Pool A in the RWC with Ireland, Scotland, Russia and Samoa and all the sides will be taking note of their fine form. Japan went through the Pacific Nations Cup unbeaten scoring 14 tries along the way and bonus point victories in each of their games.

Japan could equal their record high world ranking of 9th if the game between Argentina and South Africa is in their favor. Japans dominance over the last few weeks has been highlighted by having 5 players in the top 10 points scorers for the 2019 Pacific Nations Cup
