Joey Carbery makes his return in Munster victory

Joey Carbery made his return to rugby with a 17 minute stint off the bench knocking over a touchline conversion in Munster's 11-20 victory at Cardiff Arms Park.

Flanker Ellis Jenkins was named man of the match as he and Chris Cloete enjoyed a terrific battle at the breakdown. Munster started the game brightly but didn't quite make the pressure tell on the scoreboard while Cardiff took their first opportunity. Seb Davies cantered through a gap after running an excellent line off of young flyhalf Ben Thomas. However, the second rower was sent to the sin bin for a silly clear out just five minute later.

Munster didn't make the most of their man advantage scoring just three points while Davies was off the pitch. Thomas and JJ Hanrahan traded penalties before the break as Cardiff lead 8-6. Jean Kleyn finished a nice try set up by a Hanrahan chip, chase and regather before Thomas missed successive penalties to get Cardiff back in front. Billy Holland came onto the pitch to tally up the second-highest tally of Munster caps surpassing Ronan O'Gara with Carbery joining him on the pitch in the 63rd minute.

Carbery put in a nice kick to set up a lineout on the Cardiff 22 which resulted in the final try of the game with the pack powering over the whitewash, Niall Scannell the scorer. Carbery stepped up to make it a 9 point victory denying Cardiff any points from the encounter.
