Jordan Taufua scraps Japan plans

Crusaders loose forward Jordan Taufua has been granted an early release with his contract with Japanese club side Mitsubishi Sagamihara Dynaboars.

The move, all going to plan, should result in him finally earning his first All Blacks cap. Taufua was named in the All Blacks squad to play France earlier this month but never played because of a calf injury.

He was linked with a number of European clubs after the current Super Rugby season before re-signing with the Crusaders in March. The 26-year-old will now be back on Tasman's roster and therefore eligible to represent the All Blacks.

Taufua's sudden change of heart suggests the All Blacks selectors have asked him to stay in New Zealand ahead of the Rugby Championship and, later in the year, the tour to Japan and Europe.
