Keith Wood Selects Andrew Trimble

Former Ireland captain Keith Wood disagrees with the decision to leave out Andrew Trimble from Ireland's World Cup squad.

Trimble has struggled with injury and made a brief comeback against Wales last month, only to limp off.

The Ulster flyer missed the cut and Wood feels that Ireland will miss what he can offer to a side.

"Keith Earls and Luke Fitzgerald are both very fast, but very slight, guys. I would have gone with one of them, and then Trimble," he told the BBC.

"Andrew Trimble is a block of a man, he causes carnage when he is on the field.

"It is about trying to weigh up the difference with the injuries, but I would have made a gamble with Trimble that he would get back right."
