Springboks confirm travel squad to Argentina

Rassie Erasmus has named a squad of 28 players for the visit to Argentina, where the Springboks will face the Pumas in Mendoza next Saturday evening (SA time).

Erasmus trimmed the forwards by three players, namely Jean-Luc du Preez (loose forward), Sikhumbuzo Notshe (loose forward) and Marvin Orie (lock). Uncapped flanker Cyle Brink underwent surgery earlier in the week to repair damage suffered to his injured knee.

Squad members Ross Cronje (scrumhalf), Jesse Kriel (centre) and Lwazi Mvovo (wing) are the three backs not travelling over to South America. Full squad


 

Mapimpi one of seven SA nominees for PRO14 dream team

Springbok winger Makazole Mapimpi, who will be in action against Argentina in the Rugby Championship Durban on Saturday, is one of seven South Africans who are in line to make the PRO14 Dream Team of the season for 2017/18.

 

The other players nominated from the Cheetahs and Southern Kings are Ox Nche (prop), Torsten van Jaarsveld (hooker), Oupa Mohoje (flanker), Reniel Hugo (lock), Bobby de Wee (lock), and Uzair Cassiem (No 8). Full nominees

 

No Folau for Wallabies in New Zealand

Wallabies fullback Israel Folau won't feature next Saturday night as the Wallabies look to keep their 2018 Bledisloe Cup hopes alive in Auckland. Folau was ruled out by Michael Cheika after tearing a muscle in his lower leg last night.
