Munster Injury Update: RG Snyman, Dave Kilcoyne & Jean Kleyn

It has been confirmed that Munster’s newest debutant, RG Snyman, sustained an ACL tear in the opening minutes of Saturday night’s Guinness PRO14 encounter against Leinster.

The Springbok towering second-row forward's debut was cut short after just seven minutes, with head coach Johann van Graan admitting his injury looked “pretty serious”.

"We’re really disappointed to lose him in the first seven minutes of the game, as well as Dave Kilcoyne [who] came off with an ankle injury and Jean Kleyn with a neck injury," said van Graan.

"All three will go for scans as quick as possible. We’ll have to see what the scan says. He’s a tough man, he doesn’t come off the field pretty often.

"He went up, stole that lineout and fell pretty badly. We’re gutted about that. That’s rugby, that’s what this game is about, you’ve got to come through tough times."

Snyman will meet with the specialist next to discuss surgery and management.

Dave Kilcoyne and Jean Kleyn have also been ruled out for the immediate future with both players requiring rehabilitation periods for respective ankle and neck ligament injuries.
