Player Ratings: Scotland v Wales

Player Ratings: Scotland v Wales

Following a fantastic test between Scotland and Wales we rate the two starting line ups out of a possible 10.

An improved performance by the Scots in the second half sees a number of their players' ratings benefit while Wales charged one step closer to a possible Grand Slam.

1. Allan Dell - 7

Solid in the scrum and made over 10 tackles. Had a super break in the second half that could have resulted in a try if it weren't for Liam Williams' tackle.

2. Stuart McInally -7

Got around the park brilliantly, hit his jumpers at the lineout and was physical throughout.

3. WP Nel - 6

Made 8 tackles, cleaned well and held his own in the scrum.

4. Grant Gilchrist - 6

Was busy throughout the game, got stuck into the rucks, carried and tackled well.

5. Jonny Gray - 7

Made all but one his 16 attempted tackles and was a great option at the lineout. His 50th test came to an end when he was substituted in the 64th minute.

6. Magnus Bradbury -7.5

A workhorse performance from the young blindside flanker. Hit double digits in the tackle and carries categories and

7. Jamie Ritchie - 6

Excellent on defence but the young flanker did concede a number of needless penalties.

8. Josh Strauss - 6

Like many of the other Scottish forwards, Strauss got through a ton of work but was just unable to make his impact count enough to see Scotland to victory.

9. Ali Price - 6.5

Looked lively and sparked the Scottish attack into live at times, his passing was crisp but his kicking was a bit off.

10. Finn Rusell - 7

Russell was excellent in the second half after a few errors in the first half. He threw a lovely inside ball in the build-up to Graham's try.

11. Darcy Graham - 7

Carried hard to the line from the outset and managed to beat 4 defenders and gain 51 running metres. His efforts were rewarded with a try.

12. Peter Horne - 6

Linked up well with Russell and was solid in defence missing just one tackle.

13. Nick Grigg - 6

Did well against the experienced Jonathan Davies but was found wanting, positionally, on defence at times.

14. Tommy Seymour - n/a

An early end to his 50th test as he went off the pitch after just 20 minutes.

15. Blair Kinghorn - n/a

Left the field after just 30 minutes injured.

Adam Hastings - 6.5

Joined the line brilliantly in the build up to Graham's try and made over 60 running metres.

1. Rob Evans - 6.5

Got through his work with little fuss, a solid outing for the loosehead.

2. Ken Owens - 7

Hit double digits in the tackle and carry departments. Got stuck into the rucks and found his jumpers with his throws.

3. Tomas Francis - 6.5

Defended well making over 10 tackles and was used sparingly on attack making just two carries.

4. Adam Beard - 7

Come up with an outstanding jackal with Scotland on the front foot before the hour mark before he was taken off. Good at the breakdown overall and is still yet to lose for Wales.

5. Alun Wyn Jones - 7.5

Outstanding in all facets of his game and lead his side to another victory.

6.  Josh Navidi - 7.5

Massive on defence making 23 tackles and bossed the breakdown with Tipuric and co.

7. Justin Tipuric - 8

Important on defence bossing the breakdown with Navidi and bettered his back row teammate by making all of his 24 tackles.

8. Ross Moriarty - 6.5

Quieter game from the no.8 but he did make 12 tackles and 11 carries.

9. Gareth Davies - 6.5

Provided Anscombe and Biggar with good service but did have a few errors starting early on with a knock on.

10. Gareth Anscombe - 7

Started the game lively and linked up well with Parkes but his cross kicks were wayward. Didn't look out of place at fullback.

11. Josh Adams  - 7.5

Scored a stunner with a brilliant shimmy in the first half and didn't look back. Great under the high ball and solid defensive. Racked up 65 running metres and made three clean breaks.

12. Hadleigh Parkes - 8.5

Sublime on defence making numerous cover tackles that could have hurt Wales and won an important aerial battle with Scotland on the charge.

13. Jonathan Davies - 7.5

Another great game on defence with the only blip being when he shot up on Russell in the build up to Graham's try. Got Adams into space with a good pace for the winger to score.

14. Goerge North - 6

Good on defence and carried strongly but he did give a few penalties away and saw less ball compared to Adams.

15. Liam Williams - 7

Could have been a much higher score had he stayed on the pitch. Williams was outstanding in the air again and made a crucial tackle on Allan Dell that ultimately ended his game.
