Player Ratings - Lions vs Highlanders
  1. Joe Marler 6/10

The Lions scrum was solid while Marler was on the pitch but he failed to make any real impact around the park.

  1. 2.Rory Best 6/10

Best hit all his line outs and the scrum was solid but similarly to Marler he failed to make an impact around the park with only two tackles to his name.

  1. Kyle Sinckler 7/10

Sinckler had another strong performance; he made some important hits, offered himself as an attacking option and even showed some pace to execute a beautifully orchestrated line break.

  1. Courtney Lawes N/A

Lawes was forced off 26 minutes in with a suspected concussion.

  1. Iain Henderson 7/10

Henderson had a hugely positive performance today with a total of 11 carries. Henderson proved he offers more then a line out option working hard around the park.

  1. James Haskell 5/10

Unfortunately for Haskell it wasn’t his best performance with his discipline attributing to the Lions high penalty count.

  1. Sam Warburton 7/10

Warburton was a man under pressure before the game but today’s performance relieved some of that, with no missed tackles and a try under his belt Warburton should be happy with his performance.

  1. CJ Stander 7/10

Stander totalled 20 carries and his work rate was noticable to see.

  1. Rhys Webb 8/10

Webb was one of the standout players while on the pitch. He was a menace in attacking showing both strength and footwork to make numerous breaks around the park.

  1. Dan Biggar 7/10

Biggar was solid today and made a noticeable carry that led to Josephs try, however with so much competition for the 10 spot he’ll struggle to get much test time.

  1. Tommy Seymour 6/10

Seymour did manage to grab himself a try but was fairly non-existent other then that.

  1. Robbie Henshaw 6/10

Henshaw was his usual powerful self; he was solid in defence with a tackle success rate of 88%.

  1. Jonathan Joseph 7/10

Joseph looked really comfortable playing today, he did well keeping Fekitoa contained and managed to get over the whitewash, positive stuff from the England centre.

  1. Jack Nowell 6/10

Nowell needed a big game after his previous performance, it wasn’t his greatest match but he did have a tackle success rate of 100% and was restricted in what he could do given the amount of ball he received.

  1. Jared Payne 6/10

Payne was average enough, he didn’t do anything spectacular yet he didn’t really make any big mistakes but the Lions need more if they want to get some wins under their belt.

Honourable mentions from the bench

19. Alun Wyn-Jones 6/10

Wyn-Jones was called into action early after Lawes' injury and was solid at the line out but gave away the 2 penalties in crucial circumstances.
