Schalk Brits set to re-join former side

Former Saracens and Springbok hooker Schalk Brits is set to sign a deal with the Stormers and Western Province according to a report by Netwerk24

Brits announced that he would retire at the end of the 2017/18 season having helped Saracens to yet another Premiership title but came out of retirement to feature for the Springboks against England in June.

He was also involved with the test side during the Rugby Championship despite not featuring for the side.

The Bulls and Stormers have been vying for the 37-year-old's signature with the report suggesting that he is set to sign for his former side.

Brits, who now has his sights set on next year’s Rugby World Cup, will enjoy a third stint at the Stormers, having represented the Cape franchise between 2006-2009 and briefly in 2011.

During his time at Saracens (2009-2018) he also won two European Champions Cup titles.

He has also been included in Rassie Erasmus’ Barbarians squad for the Killik Cup match against Argentina at Twickenham.
