The Melbourne Rebels notched up their first win of the season with a 24-10 home win over the Waratahs in round 3.

The sides traded early penalties before a Rebels try shortly after saw the hosts take an 8-3 lead into halftime.

An early second half try saw the Waratahs in front, but the lead did not last long as a Rebels penalty from the restart saw them up 11-10. The Rebels made it a four point ball game with a penalty with around ten minutes to play and would finish the match strongly, running in two late tries to seal the victory.
