With just two games in the opening week, we take a look at the Top 5 performers of the opening weekend.

Nizaam Carr:

Carr recently returned from a very successful spell at Wasps due to a short loan agreement. He was excellent for the Stormers at 8 today making 15 of his 16 tackles with74 meters gained with ball in hand. The Springbok was a stand out for the home side and instrumental in their win

Dillyn Leyds:


The Springbok attacked from the back with great vision as he carved away 107m on attack beating 5 defenders. Not only did he win 3 turnovers on the day but made 3 line breaks too.

Aphiwe Dyantyi:


The 23 year old excelled on his Super Rugby debut beating 4 defenders on his way to 50m run with ball in hand and scoring a sensational individual try at Ellis Park. He earned himself Man of the Match for his performance

Lionel Mapoe:

The out of favour Springbok 13 partnered well with Harold Vorster in midfield for the Lions today and scored 2 important tries for his side. 

Robert du Preez:

On the losing side today but du Preez had a solid opening game for the Sharks in Super Rugby after his move from Cape Town. His thunderous boot kept the Sharks in the hunt until the final whistle and bagging a try in the opening moments of the game
