Fitzgerald to return for Leinster

Luke Fitzgerald is in line to make his return from injury against Connacht this weekend.

Fitzgerald is back in training and should feature in Galway in the top of the table clash, according to Girvan Dempsey.

"It's great to have him back. He's been out on the training pitch and he's really excited to get back in the fold," Leinster's backs coach said.

Rob Kearney and Marty Moore are said to be "not far away"from returning from hamstring injuries, while Sean O'Brien is still two to three weeks away from a return from the hamstring injury that he picked up against France. Jack Conan has also suffered a foot injury and is set for a spell on the sidelines.

Goneva to Falcons

Newcastle have signed Leicester Tigers utility back Vereniki Goneva for next season.

The Fiji international leaves Leicester with an Aviva Premiership trophy in 2013.

Newcastle Falcons director of rugby Dean Richards was delighted to wrap up the signing of the 31 year old, saying: “We are getting not only a world-class player with Vereniki, but also somebody who has consistently proven they can thrive in the Aviva Premiership.

“He will bring another dimension to our back-line firepower from next season onwards, and it says much for the current standing of the Falcons that we can attract a player of his calibre.

“I am sure our supporters will enjoy the style and cutting edge that he brings to our play, and this is the sort of acquisition which really makes a statement about the ambition of everybody at Kingston Park.”
