Phil Nilsen

26th Feb 1985 1.85m/102kg Hooker

Phil Nilsen is the longest serving player of the 2016/17 Yorkshire Carnegie squad. His testimonial in the 2015/16 season cemented his place in the history of the club being the third in all time appearances behind Mike Shelley and Tom Palmer.

His career started at the academy and he made his debut for the club in the 2006 season. His career has been with one club but his position has moved from the back row to the front row. His contributions to the club have been tantamount and he will be one of the corner stones of their 2016/17 challenge.

Phil is the longest serving player at the club and is now second in the all-time appearance list behind Mike Shelley.

During the 2015-16 season Phil became only the second played in the club’s history to be granted a testimonial, after Rob Rawlinson, and is only the second player after Mike Shelley to play 200 games in all competitions.

The 32-year-old was named in the Greene King IPA Championship Dream Team in his final season, as Carnegie reached the playoff final.

Yorkshire Carnegie stalwart Phil Nilsen is set to join National One side Coventry next season, after agreeing a two year contract with the Midlands club.
