Kyle Brown

6th Feb 1987 1.82m/94kg Outside Centre

Brown has been involved with the Sevens Squad since 2008 and is one of the most experienced players in the squad. The utility forward is not shy of scoring tries and has over 60 tries to his name for the Springboks, and is one of the fastest forwards in the game and is always a threat going forward.

He was named captain of the 12-man Springbok squad for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where he was included in the starting lineup for their first match against Spain, with South Africa winning the match 24–0.

November 2016 saw Brown step down from the captaincy to "settle into a more supportive role to the younger leaders in the squad". Philip Snyman took over the role ahead of the opening tournament of the 2016/17 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.
