Hailing from Queensland, Australia, Brown attended the prestigious St.Joseph's Nudgee College as a schoolkid and was in the First XV with the likes of Hugh McMeniman and Rocky Elsom. Having had an impressive Super rugby season Brown was brought into the Australian national set up in 2008. He made his debut later that year in the game against the All Blacks in Brisbane. Brown went on to feature in all of the Wallabies' end-of year tour games.
