Leinster youngster, Beirne represented the U19 & U20 sides. With 10 caps for Ireland U20's it wouldn't be long for him to break into the first team ranks.

The former Irish U20 international who won a British & Irish Cup medal in 2013, graduated from the Leinster academy and was handed a one-year contract.

After playing four times for Leinster, the 24-year-old signed with Scarlets for the 2016/17 season.

During his opening season in Wales, Beirne was outstanding for the Scarlets as they secured the PRO12 title in Dublin.

Beirne played 22 times for the Welsh outfit during the 2016-17 campaign, and became mainstay in the Scarlets second-row due to his tireless work-rate and ability to secure turnovers at the breakdown.

In October 2017, Beirne turned down an offer to stay in Llanelli, and opted for a two-year deal at Munster Rugby, joining them at the start of the 2018/19 season.

His form did not go unnoticed as he earned an Ireland call up ahead of their 2018 June Test Series against Australia.

In August 2018, Beirne was named 2017/18 Players' Player of the Season at the PRO14 awards.

Beirne joins Munster having made 57 appearances for Scarlet, scoring 60 points.

As of the 2018/2019 Champions Cup, Beirne has had 12 Champions Cup appearances scoring 3 tries and 15 points.

Having made his test debut against Australia, Beirne has 4 test caps heading into the 2019 Six Nations.
