Prop Jake Shearer was born in Drongan in East Ayrshire, he played with Cumnock school rugby aged 11 from August 2017 until age 14 in August 2020 when he moved clubs to Ayr RFC due to there not being enough players to make up a team at the small Cumnock RFC.
He became Captain of the Ayr U16’s team before progressing to play as an 18 year old with the Ayrshire Bulls.
He has consistently played for Ayr RFC since then and is also aligned through his Glasgow Warriors attachment.
At 17, he was invited to join the SRU development pathway and played for the U17’s Glasgow & The West Regional Group, successfully progressing to become part of the U20 Scotland team that won the World Trophy Tournament in 2024, he made his Scotland U20 debut in the final of the 2024 World Rugby U20 Trophy coming off the bench as Scotland beat USA U20 to win the trophy, and he subsequently played in Scotland’s U20’s World Cup matches in 2025.
At 18, Jake was offered a 2 year Junior Glasgow Warriors Academy Contract.
After successfully completing several 6th Year’s Advanced Highers at just 17, in September 2023, he followed in his older sister’s footsteps and, started a full time Business Course at Strathclyde University.
He is studying Business Data Analysis at University, while still in the Glasgow Warriors Junior Academy. Having chosen to pursue a career in rugby he was unable to study medicine which was his first choice.
