George Poolman’s rise through Australian rugby has been swift and impressive. Born on September 6, 2002, in New South Wales, Poolman showed early promise in the schoolboy ranks, earning selection for the Australian Schoolboys side and representing Sydney University in the Shute Shield after graduation. Tall, athletic, and composed beyond his years, he quickly stood out as a natural outside back capable of playing both centre and wing.
After joining the Western Force through their Fortescue Academy, Poolman made his Super Rugby debut in 2023 and played all 14 games in his rookie season, scoring his first try against Moana Pasifika. Over three years in Perth, he became a mainstay of the Force backline, making 31 appearances and earning selection in the 2025 Super Rugby AU Team of the Tournament. His blend of power, skill, and consistency made him one of the competition’s most promising young players.
In October 2025, Poolman signed a contract with the NSW Waratahs through to the end of 2027, marking a return to his home state. Waratahs coach Dan McKellar described him as a versatile and hard-working player with significant upside. Off the field, Poolman is studying a Bachelor of Commerce and Civil Engineering and enjoys golf and body surfing.
