Will Butt, born on January 15, 2000, is an English professional rugby union player who currently plays for Bath Rugby. He began his rugby journey at a young age, joining Bath's age group rugby program at 14. Butt then pursued his education at Canford School while also captaining Bath's under-18 team and representing the University of Bath.
In April 2021, Butt went on loan to Coventry, a team in the RFU Championship, the second tier of English rugby union. During his loan spell, he had an outstanding performance, equaling Coventry's club record by scoring four tries in a single game against the Jersey Reds in May 2021. Subsequently, Butt started regularly training with Bath's senior squad in the summer of 2021.
Butt made his debut in the Rugby Premiership, the top tier of English rugby union, in December 2021. He played against Northampton Saints at Franklin's Gardens. On November 11, 2022, Butt scored a crucial last-minute try that secured a 19-18 victory for Bath over the Leicester Tigers at The Rec.
Butt's rugby journey at Bath began as a young player in the club's academy. He progressed through the University pathway and captained Bath's under-18 team. Butt also showcased his skills while representing the University of Bath in BUCS Super Rugby, a university rugby competition.
In the 2020/21 season, with limited game time due to the absence of the Premiership Rugby Cup and Shield, Butt seized the opportunity to join Coventry on loan. His performances were exceptional, and he displayed leadership qualities that contributed to the team's environment.
Although primarily a centre, Butt has demonstrated his versatility by excelling on the wing. His strong kick-chase and work rate have made him an asset for Bath Rugby. Since joining the senior squad, Butt has made his mark in both Premiership matches and European competitions, proving his capabilities at the highest level of the game.
