Campbell Ridl was born in Tooting and studied at Michaelhouse in KwaZulu-Natal, South
Africa. He cites former London Irish player Ryan Strudwick as his most influential coach
back in South Africa and is currently at University of Exeter studying Marketing and
Management after joining Exeter Chiefs in January 2023.
Ridl has South African heritage through his parents and played for the Sharks in Durban in
his youth. He looks up to Rieko Ioane and his most treasured rugby memory is being
selected for the England U20 Men's team, something he is 'truly grateful' for.
His first two U20 caps for England against Scotland and Italy saw the rangy back touched
down against Scotland after progressing from the U19 programme in 2024. He has
amassed over 20 appearances to date for the University of Exeter in BUCS Super Rugby
and National League 2 West.
