England locked horns with Australia in the final fixture in today's womens world cup match day. The Red Roses secured a dominant 47-7 victory over the Wallaroos to secure top spot in their pool, ahead of the qaurter-finals. We take a look at three of the games top performers. 

Abby Dow

Abby Dow had a strong game on the wing, gaining 106 metres, while beating 4 defenders and making 3 clean breaks from 7 carries. Although she didn’t make any passes or offloads, she worked hard in defence with 6 tackles and no turnovers. It was a solid all-round performance, showing her impact in attack and commitment in defence.

Jess Breach

Jess Breach marked her 50th cap with a solid performance on the wing in the number 11 jersey. She gained 34 metres from 4 carries, making 2 clean breaks along the way. While she didn’t beat any defenders, she was active in linking play with 6 passes and also put in work defensively with 4 tackles. Though it wasn’t her biggest attacking display, Breach contributed well on both sides of the ball in this milestone match.

Alex Matthews 

Alex Matthews delivered a standout performance from number 8, earning the Player of the Match award. She made 52 metres with ball in hand, beating 2 defenders from her 12 carries, while also contributing 2 passes in attack. Defensively, she was rock solid, making 12 tackles without missing any. Even without a clean break or offload, her work rate and impact around the field were key to her side’s performance, underlining why she was deservedly recognised as the game’s top performer.
