Fiji head coach Ioan Cunningham and vice-captain Bitila Tawake speak after their 29-15 defeat by Scotland in Pool B at Salford Community Stadium on Saturday.
Ioan Cunningham, head coach
On the performance:
"It is a difficult result to take because we go into every match to win but I'm super proud of the performance. We showed growth in our game. We had Scotland under pressure in the second half, but we didn't quite come away with enough points. but proud of the effort."
On the chances Fiji couldn't quite convert on Scotland's try line:
"We were camped there for a long period but Scotland defended really well. Those are the opportunities you've got to take because you don't get many chances."
On playing Wales next:
"We'll regroup, recover and dust ourselves off and look forward to a new week and a new challenge."
Bitila Tawake, vice-captain
"I am just really proud of the girls and the effort they put in. We wanted to go in with a mindset of going in and being hungry the whole tournament."
On which aspects of the game pleased her most:
"We carried out our duties with a lot of pride today, despite whatever we went through today we turned up to the last minute."
On the game against Wales:
"Yes, we'll take the leanings from this week to next week. I want to thank everyone for coming out today and our families back home."
