Wiehahn Herbst

5th Jul 1988 1.80m/117kg Tighthead Prop

The tighthead has performed an important backup role to Jannie du Plessis, with his powerful frame making him a handful in the tight exchanges, whilst an effective technique often sees him get the better of his opposite number at scrum-time.

Herbst made 52 appearances for the Sharks' Currie Cup campaign between 2009 and 2014, while he has represented the sides' Super Rugby squad on 40 occasions.

He joined Ulster in 2014 and in December 2016 extended his stay at Kingspan Stadium until at least the summer of 2019.

Herbst made 80 appearances for the Irish club before returning to South Africa to represent the Bulls in April 2019.

As of June 2020, he has made 56 Super Rugby appearances.

In July 2020, the Bulls confirmed that the prop will leave the club to join Super Rugby rivals, the Lions.
