Gloucester Rugby - re-signing

Gloucester Rugby is delighted to announce that 2025/26 Coaches’, Players’ and Supporters’ Player of the Season, Charlie Atkinson, has signed a new contract with the Club, keeping him at Kingsholm until at least 2029.

A product of Oxford RFC, the 24-year-old arrived in early 2024 and has developed into an integral part of the Gloucester Rugby squad.

His consistent performances for in Cherry & White have earned recognition on the international stage, with six England A appearances and one senior England cap so far against the USA in 2025.

Head Coach George Skivington praised the fly-half's impact and commitment to the Club.

“We’re delighted to extend Charlie’s contract here at Kingsholm.

“He’s someone we identified early on as a player we wanted to bring into our environment, and since joining the Club, he’s had to work incredibly hard for his opportunities. Over the past year, we’ve really seen the rewards of that dedication on the pitch.

“It’s a real coup for us to secure Charlie’s future. There was plenty of interest in him, but we’re confident in the programme we’ve built here and the vision for what we can achieve. Clearly, Charlie believes he can play a big part in that as well.”

Atkinson believes Gloucester is the ideal place to continue his development and is excited by the direction of the Club.

“It was a pretty easy decision for me to re-sign when I looked at all my options. I’m not from Gloucester, but I absolutely love the lads and the supporters, who have all welcomed me with open arms, so this really does feel like home now.

“Most importantly, I’m really enjoying my rugby at the moment. I feel like I have a big role to play within this team and, with the exciting changes to the coaching and playing group over the summer, I believe we’re only going to keep improving, both collectively and individually.”
