Javan Sebastian to join Edinburgh next season

Javan Sebastian is to join Edinburgh Rugby for next season, the Scarlets can confirm.

The 28-year-old tight-head prop has played 64 games for the Scarlets over two spells, sandwiching a season with Glasgow Warriors.

Capped for Scotland against Japan in 2021, the Carmarthen product is currently part of Gregor Townsend’s Six Nations squad – Javan’s father was born and raised in the Scottish capital.

Javan said: “Leaving Scarlets certainly wasn’t an easy decision and I’ve got a huge debt of gratitude to the club. They are my home region and gave me my first opportunity to play professionally.

“However, this move to Edinburgh is massively exciting and it’s an opportunity that I genuinely can’t wait to get stuck into. This is a fresh challenge for me and one that really excites me because of my aspirations to continue playing international rugby. Hopefully I can keep myself in a strong position with Scotland by playing consistently for Edinburgh.

“I’d like to thank everyone at the Scarlets, my team-mates, coaches, staff and the fans for all the support they have given me and I’m looking forward to playing a part for the remainder of the season. It was a big win for us last weekend and we are targeting a strong finish in the URC and also have the knockout stages of the Challenge Cup to look forward to”
