Leicester Tigers Leavers '23

Leicester Tigers can confirm the players who will depart in the summer.

Seven members of the Senior Squad will leave Leicester, while three Senior Academy players will also depart.

The Senior Squad players are:

  • Chris Ashton
  • Jimmy Gopperth
  • Calum Green
  • Sean Jansen
  • Kini Murimurivalu
  • Hosea Saumaki
  • Eli Snyman

From the Senior Academy, the players are:

  • George Loose
  • Chester Owen
  • Riley Williams

In addition, two mid-season arrivals will leave with their short-term contracts at Tigers coming to an end.


The duo is Tom West and Sam Wolstenholme.

During the current season, the club agreed early releases with five players - Freddie Burns, Bryce Hegarty, Nephi Leatigaga, Nemani Nadolo and Lachlan Shelley - and saw the retirement of Richard Wigglesworth, who became Interim Head Coach.


Tom Cowan-Dickie, Tom Horton, Gabriel Oghre and Joe Taufete’e also left during the current campaign, bringing an end their short-term deals with the club.

The club will confirm next season’s Senior and Senior Academy squads, as well as the Coaching Team, ahead of the players’ return for the 2023/24 pre-season programme under new Leicester Tigers Head Coach Dan McKellar.


As well as McKellar, Leicester Tigers have already confirmed five additions to the Senior Squad from next season in Josh Bassett, Ollie Hassell-Collins, Kyle Hatherell, Jamie Shillcock and Finn Theobald-Thomas, as well as twenty-three contracts renewals with current players beyond this season.

Leicester Tigers also welcomed Charlie Atkinson and Tom Whiteley to the club midway through the current campaign on long-term deals, as well as Mike Brown who was among those to agree a new deal beyond this season.
