The ACT Brumbies announced that local talent Rory Scott has re-signed with the organisation for a further two years, turning down interest from rival clubs to continue his journey with his hometown club through to 2028.
"I’m thrilled to continue my journey with the Brumbies. Being able to represent my hometown and my home club is incredibly special,” Rory said.
“I’m excited for what’s ahead and to keep contributing to this great team."
A Marist College alumnus and proud Canberra Royals product, Rory is about as Canberra as they come. The bruising backrower took up rugby as a kid for the Royals before moving to Marist. Upon graduation, he returned to his junior club, helping them towards back-to-back Premierships. Rising through the Brumbies Pathway program, Rory made his home debut in 2021 against the Western Force and has since cemented himself as a key member of the Brumbies squad.
In 2024, Rory’s performances earned him selection in the Australian A side, where he travelled to England for fixtures against Bristol Bears and England A. Brumbies fans know their number seven is non-stop, and his 2025 season showcased his work rate and impact on both sides of the ball, finishing with 197 tackles – placing him in the top 10 for the season – alongside 115 carries and nine turnovers won.
“Playing for the Brumbies has been an incredible chapter in my career. Everything this club has done to support me has helped shape who I am, both as a person and a player,” Rory said.
“I’ve loved every minute of it, and I’m excited for the chance to give back to the Canberra community."
Brumbies Head Coach Stephen Larkham was pleased with the re-signing, praising Rory’s commitment and development.
"Rory has shown tremendous growth since coming through our pathway. His dedication, work ethic, and connection to Canberra make him an invaluable member of our squad," Larkham said. "We’re thrilled he’s continuing his career with the Brumbies."
