Super Rugby Round 1 Preview: Part 1

Blues vs Highlanders:

The 2015 Champions travel to Auckland to face a Blues side with a lot to prove. All Black legend, Tana Umaga is at the helm as head coach and he has plenty talent at his disposal, one such player being Rene Ranger who returns after a stint in France.

The Highlanders have the crosshairs focussed firmly on them after coming out of nowhere in recent years to winning the competition in glorious fashion. The core of the team is still there but can they maintain it or wither like the Reds did after their win?

Brumbies vs Hurricanes:

This is the game of the weekend and the who's who of Australian & New Zealand rugby up against each other.

Both sets of loose forwards are world class and the backs too but the winner of this game could come from tight 5 dominance and a flash of brilliance. Put your seat belt on because this is going to be a good ride

Cheetahs vs Jaguares:

This opening game is vitally important for both sides. The Cheetahs have come off a challenging couple of season and will look to put the new boys to the sword. The Bloemfontein side has a solid pack and exciting back line but having lost a host of big names from last season, they could see themselves in a rebuilding phase. The Jaguares however have named a strong side and had a good pre season run in South Africa. The side consists of no less than 13 of the Argentinian squad that excited us all at the RWC a few months back. If it wasn't for their crazy travel schedule they may be considered favorites but will most definately make the play offs.
