Match Facts

Ireland have won each of their four Test meetings with Georgia, with three of those victories coming by margins of 40+ points; the Lelos did however run Ireland close at the 2007 Rugby World Cup, losing by just four points on that day (10-14).

Ireland have won 19 of their last 20 home Test matches, including each of their last seven in a row, with their only defeat in that spell coming against England in February 2019 (20-32).

Each of Georgia’s last 17 Tests have been won by the side leading at halftime (W9, L8), a run that stretches back to February 2019.

Georgia have lost each of their last three matches, but haven’t lost four on the bounce since June to September 2015; the Lelos have failed to score a point in their last two games, this after failing to score a point just twice previously in their Test history (v Ireland in 1998 and Japan in 2018).

Ireland lost their Autumn Nations Cup Round 2 clash against England, however they’ve not suffered back-to-back defeats in Test rugby since losing the second and third matches of their Test series against South Africa in June 2016.

Ireland are unbeaten in their last 41 games against teams not currently regarded as tier one (W40, D1), their last such defeat coming against Samoa in November 1996.

Ireland have averaged the most possession (60%) and territory (60%) in the Autumn Nations Cup, while Georgia have had the least territory (35%) so far this campaign.

The top five players for ball carries in the Autumn Nations Cup all play for either Ireland or Georgia; Irish trio Caelan Doris, Chris Farrell and Hugo Keenan have all made a joint-high 25 carries, while teammate James Lowe has made 22 and sits just behind Georgia’s Beka Gorgadze (24).

Georgia have made the joint most dominant tackles in the Autumn Nations Cup (26, level with England), with Beka Saginadze making nine such tackles – four more than any other player (Tom Curry – 5) and three times as many as any Ireland player (James Ryan – 3).

Jacob Stockdale scored his 18th try for Ireland last weekend, only six men have more for Ireland in Test rugby (level with Geordan Murphy); since his debut, only Rieko Ioane (25) and Jonny May (23) have scored more Test tries than the Ulsterman (Beauden Barrett also 18).
