Having moved from Biarritz Olympique, Matt Berquist is the new purchase of the Benetton Treviso for the 2013/2014 season. He comes to fill in the fly half position while also being available for selection in the centre. He grew up in Otago, also played for Hawke's Bay and Auckland NPC, while in Super Rugby jersey the Highlanders and Crusaders. Before arriving in France, he also gained experience with Leinster in Ireland.
