2022 Six Nations to be played behind closed doors?

Plans are being put in place to host the lion’s share of the 2022 Six Nations competition behind closed doors with no options for postponements.

England are the only participating country currently without Covid-related restrictions, which does not bode well for the approaching contest which is set to commence in a month’s time.

Ireland and France have crowds capped at 5000 while, in Scotland, a maximum of 500 people are given the green light to attend outdoor sports events.

The idea is to guarantee that all fixtures will be observed as there appears no wiggle-room in the rugby calendar for any postponements, however, it has obvious, disastrous financial consequences for all teams involved, especially for Wales who are scheduled to host three home clashes.

As things stand, the idea of England hosting the event in its entirety is still an option.
