All Black Player Ratings v Australia - Bledisloe IV

Australia claimed a historic win in a pulsating clash in Brisbane as Ian Foster suffered his first defeat as the new All Blacks coach.

A game muddled with cards saw both Ofa Tu'ungafasi and Lachlan Swinton given their marching orders while there were yellow cards for Marika Koroibete and Scott Barrett too.

Seven days after suffering a 38-point defeat, Dave Rennie’s Wallabies pulled off a remarkable reversal over a largely changed All Blacks 23.

Here is how we rated the All Blacks in defeat.

1.Karl Tu'inukuafe - 5

Made his tackles on defence but wasn't much of a threat with ball in hand while he held his own in the scrums without dominating.

A few penalties against him around the park doesn't help his rating. Joe Moody is missed up front.

2.Codie Taylor - 7

One of the All Blacks best in Brisbane. His lineout darts where spot on and he was rewarded with a try from the back of a maul.

Made 10 tackles without missing and carried strongly.

3.Ofa Tuungafasi - 1

Gave up possession with a silly knock inside the first six minutes with the Wallabies on the back foot before he was sent off for a high tackle on Tom Wright.

A forgettable test overall.

4.Scott Barrett - 4

Still yet to get back to his best. Gave away a crucial penalty to the Wallabies and had few instances where he was guilty of doing just that.

Strong in the lineout and did well to disrupt the Wallabies ball but he hasn't quite hit his form yet.

5.Sam Whitelock - 6.5

Did what he does best, cleared out rucks, made his tackles, carried strongly and dominated the lineout.

Not a bad shift in his 100th start for the All Blacks but nothing outstanding.

6.Akira Ioane - 6

Was unfortunately hooked after just 29 minutes of his debut following Tuungafasi's red.

Strong carries saw him make 15 meters from just three carries as he also beat two defenders.

He made five of his six tackles before his game was ended early. Made the most of his chance and we may well see him again soon.

7.Sam Cane - 7

Another game as captain, another strong performance. Once again Cane has silenced his doubters with a performance filled with big hits strong carries and an immense work rate.

He made 13 tackles and won a turnover while carrying 8 times for 33 running metres.

8.Ardie Savea - 8

Bulking carries and excellent work at the breakdown, Savea was at his best in Brisbane.

He was al over the pitch and racked up over 50 metres from his 11 carries, he drove Wallaby carriers backwards with 13 tackles in yet another industrious display.

9. TJ Perenara - 5

Had his moments as he spread the All Blacks attack, particularly early on, but his overall passing and kicking was a level down from Aaron Smith.

10.Beauden Barrett - 5

Didn't grasp his opportunity to stamp his mark and reclaim the #10 jersey.

A mixed bag with some of his kicks and didn't have as much of an impact on attack.

Missed three of his nine tackles too.

11.Rieko Ioane - 6

Finished off an early try and still went with the one-handed grounding. Made some good hits on defence.

Didn't get as much ball as he would have liked.

12.Ngani Laumape - 5

Didn't do too much wrong in attack but didn't make too much of an impact there either.

He made just 7 running metres and did well to assist Rieko Ioane for his try but we didn't see any big plays off the back of Laumape's carries.

He made his tackles in defence.

13.Anton Lienert-Brown - 5

Solid enough on defence missing just one attempted tackle while the All Blacks' attacking didn't tick enough for him to pounce.

14.Sevu Reece - 4

An error riddan game paired with a few threatening runs. He managed to beat six defenders with his footwork but made errors with quick throw-ins and missed two of his six attempted tackles.

Pinged a few times at the breakdown.

15.Jordie Barrett - 6

Was caught out by Hodge's early chip from the lineout but he made up for it soon after with an excellent offload when he was hit by Hooper and Wilson to set up Rieko Ioane for the All Blacks first try.

Cleaned up a lot for the All Blacks and kicked well from hand.

Replacements:

16.Asafo Aumua - 4

Did little to impress. Came on with 12 to play, made a high tackle and didn't get too much into the mix.

17.Alex Hodgman - 4

Offered little on attack but was solid in defence, struggled late on in the scrum.

18.Tyrel Lomax - 5

Weighed in well on defence and was solid enough in the scrum.

19. Tupou Vaai - 6

Took his opportunity to score his first test try well.

20.Cullen Grace - n/a

Got just 4 minutes on his debut.

21.Brad Weber- n/a

Not enough time to make an impact, on after 75 minutes.

22.Damian McKenzie - 4

Got smashed by Koroibete in the latter stages but didn't make much more of his 13 minutes on the pitch.

23.Will Jordan - n/a

Came on with 15 to play but lasted just 5 minutes before he was forced off with an injury.
