Tonga v Romania: Top Performers

A thrilling match between Tonga and Romania sees Tonga exit the World Cup with their heads held high as they managed to seal an emphatic 45-24 victory.

Let us have a look at some of the top performers. 

The first one is Man of the Match, George Moala. 

Moala managed to add 5 points on the score board but his contribution to Tonga's victory is far greater. 

The powerful centre made an impressive 160 metres, which is the most in the game. He carried the ball 15 times with 3 of those being clean breaks and beating 12 defenders also.


Romania had 43% possession overall and only 37% in the 2nd half meaning they were defending more than attacking, leading to loose forward Cristi Boboc making the most tackles(17) in the game, followed by Fonovai Tangimana (12). 

Tonga also put up in a tough defensive shift with fly-half William Havili making the 3rd most tackles in the game(10).


Winger Nicolas Onuțu was impressive in defense making 3 turnovers but dissapointing in attack, managing only 13 metres in the game.  

On the opposite wing, Solomone Kata was impressive making 90 metres, beating 8 defenders and scoring a brace.

George Moala, the Player of the Match, said: "The boys dug in deep. I am just really happy, it was a great effort from the boys. A really physical game and we're really happy to finish with a win."
