Owen played his early rugby at Diss before joining the Tigers development programme as a 13-year-old and then earned a place in the club's academy programme where international stars including Dan Cole, Ben Youngs, Tom Youngs, Tom Croft and Manu Tuilagi also began their careers.
Owen enjoyed a successful run with England Under-20s as well as playing in the Premiership Sevens and Premiership 'A' League with Leicester and gaining senior experience on loan at Doncaster Knights in the Championship.
Owen was released from Leicester Tigers at the end of the 2016-17 season to join Wasps.
In 2018, he signed a deal with Nottingham.
