The NSW Waratahs have confirmed the signing of experienced playmaker Jack Debreczeni, bringing the 32-year-old back to his Sydney roots.
A product of Trinity Grammar School and West Harbour Rugby Club, Debreczeni brings versatility as both a flyhalf and fullback. Known for his game management and kicking ability, he most recently featured for the First Nations and Pasifika side against the British & Irish Lions in July.
Debreczeni began his Super Rugby career with the Melbourne Rebels in 2014 and has since built over a decade of professional experience across Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. After stints with the Brumbies, he now joins the Waratahs eager to make an impact.
“Jack is an experienced player who adds real quality and strength and depth in a very important position,” said Waratahs Head Coach Dan McKellar. “It’s a really nice story to see Jack returning home, with his background at school and club rugby where he started at West Harbour.”
Debreczeni is equally excited about the move. “The Waratahs have a rich history of success. The opportunity to play for them excites me. Playing in front of family and friends is also a bonus,” he said.
