UBB and Saints Ready for rematch

Fans are in for a thrilling repeat of last year’s Final this weekend as Union Bordeaux Bègles host Northampton Saints at Chaban-Delmas. The two most impressive sides so far this season meet once again, promising a high-stakes showdown.

Tensions ran high at the final whistle in Cardiff last year when UBB emerged 28 20 victors, but the Saints have a chance to turn the tables this time. Early injuries had hampered Northampton back then, while Damian Penaud and Matthieu Jalibert delivered when it mattered most.

This season, both UBB and the Saints have maintained their excellent form. Only points difference separates the pair at the top of Pool 4, each boasting two commanding victories, setting the stage perfectly for Sunday’s clash.

The Saints were eager for this rematch as soon as the draw was announced. “As soon as that fixture came out it was one that us as a group were really looking forward to,” said Fin Smith after Round 2.

“Considering everything that happened in last year’s Final and now going over there we are genuinely excited. We want to go one better this time. Having 10 points from 10 so far shows we are in a strong position,” the fly-half added.
