David Gérard had a long professional rugby-union career spanning multiple clubs.
He began at RC Toulonnais (his hometown club). Then moved to CA Bègles‑Bordeaux (Bègles) for the 1999–2000 period. The bulk of his best years came at Stade Toulousain (2000–2006). Later he played for Northampton Saints (2006–2007), Racing Métro 92 (2007–2009), and finished at Marseille Vitrolles Rugby / Marseille (post-2009)
Gérard was capped once for the senior national team of France national rugby union team, earning his only cap in 1999 (against Tonga)
After retiring as a player, Gérard moved into coaching. His coaching résumé includes: Co-managing and coaching forwards at various teams (women’s sides, youth teams) — including women’s and junior teams at Stade Toulousain. Later roles with clubs such as AS Béziers Hérault, Lyon OU Rugby, and US Montauban.
More recently, as of 2024, he became head coach of the national team of Romania national rugby union team (the “Stejarii”).
