Brumbies hold on for the win against the Hurricanes

The Brumbies held on for their first win in Super Rugby Trans Tasman as they edged the Hurricanes 12-10.  The Brumbies struck first with a try after 12 minutes, but the Hurricanes hit back with a score five minutes later to level matters at seven apiece. The Hurricanes picked up a yellow card 23 minutes in, but the Brumbies failed to capitalize on their numerical advantage. A late first half penalty saw the Hurricanes with their nose in front, up 10-7 at the break. The Hurricanes missed a penalty in the opening minute of the first half. The Brumbies hit the front as they crossed for their second try 52 minutes in to lead 12-7. The remainder of the match was an arm wrestle, with neither side able to gain the upper hand. The Hurricanes had a late try chalked off due to a knock on in the build up, but had a chance to sneak in front with a penalty on halfway with two minutes to play. The kick sailed wide, but the Hurricanes would have one last opportunity to win it at the death, as they were awarded another penalty in the final minute. However, once again the attempt went wide as the Brumbies notched up their first victory in the competition.

He proves to be a strong link in the Brumbies back line and also shows that he is such an important player for the Australian team.
