Santiago Cordero, born on December 6, 1993, is an Argentine rugby union player known for his exceptional speed and stepping skills. He currently plays as a wing or fullback for the Bordeaux team in the French Top 14 league.
Cordero's professional career began in 2012 when he joined Regatas, an Argentine club, where he played until 2015. In 2016 and 2017, he represented the Jaguares, the Argentine Super Rugby side. His performances caught the attention of the rugby world during the 2015 Rugby World Cup, where he showcased his pace and agility, scoring memorable tries against Georgia and Tonga and making significant contributions to Argentina's fourth-place finish in the tournament.
In 2018, Cordero signed with Exeter Chiefs in the English Premiership as a medical joker, eventually becoming a full-time player for the 2018-19 season. During his time with Exeter, he played 33 games and scored 10 tries. In March 2019, he was named the Gallagher Premiership Rugby Player of the Month and was nominated for the Rugby Players Association Player of the Year award.
Cordero has been a key player for the Argentina national team, Los Pumas, since making his debut at the age of 19 against England in 2013. He has earned 30 test caps and has represented Argentina in tournaments like the Rugby Championship. He was also selected to play for the Barbarians in a match against Fiji.
In January 2019, Cordero left Exeter Chiefs and joined Bordeaux in the French Top 14 competition. He continued to impress with his performances, and in December 2020, he signed a two-season extension with Bordeaux, committing to the club until the end of the 2022-23 season.
