James Broadhurst

In 2011 Broadhurst appeared in every match for the Hurricanes, including nine consecutive starts at lock over the second half of the season.

He was a key member of the Taranaki side that won the Ranfurly Shield off Southland later in the year. He played his first Super Rugby season in 2010 after previously being a member of the Crusaders Wider Training Group.

Prior to 2010 he spent four years in Canterbury, but returned to the Hurricanes region where he attended secondary school in Gisborne and represented Poverty Bay Secondary Schools.

He grew up in Northland and as represented New Zealand at U19 and U21 levels. After a great couple of Super Rugby seasons he earned a call up into the All Black squad ahead of the 2015 Rugby Championship.

Broadhurst made his test debut against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2015, and didn't earn another cap since but he is a consistent performer in for the Hurricanes in Super Rugby.

James enjoyed a breakout year in New Zealand rugby in 2015 as a key figure in the Hurricanes' Super Rugby campaign.

Before the 2017 Super Rugby season he made 71 appearances scoring 2 tries before announcing his retirement from rugby due to the ongoing effects of concussion.
