Glasgow take aim at Exeter over Covid-19 protocol breaches

The Times reports that Glasgow Warriors are said to be sorting an official complaint to the organisers of the Champions Cup after Exeter Chiefs players and staff were supposedly indifferent to current Covid-19 safety protocols.

The issues stem from the sides’ meeting at Sandy Park on 13 December which ended in a heavy, 42-0 defeat for Glasgow.

According to the Scottish outfit, there was a distinct lack of mask-wearing and social distancing amongst Exeter’s bench and coaching staff. Twenty Glasgow players were subsequently required to self-isolate upon their return and four have now tested positive for Covid-19.

Since 13 December, a number of Chiefs players also tested positive, forcing the team to withdraw from their away fixture against Toulouse.

A spokesperson for Glasgow said:

“The health and well-being of our players and staff is our utmost priority. There is feedback we have gathered that we will give to the appropriate people when we are ready. The club does not wish to comment further on this matter.”
