Willie Le Roux

The Paul Roos Gym graduate made his Super Rugby debut in 2012 and can comfortable operate at Fly-half, fullback or on the wing. In any of the three positions, Le Roux takes the ball to the line and puts others into space on a regular basis.

He was in the Springboks squad for the 2015 Castle Rugby Championship, featuring prominently against the Wallabies and All Blacks.

In August 2016,Wasps announced that Willie will join Wasps for the 2016/17 season, signing from the Japanese side Canon Eagles.

The fullback has won 41 caps for South Africa (scoring 10 tries) and was a World Player of the Year nominee in 2014, having also been voted SARPA Players’ Player of the Year in 2013. After a sensational season in the Premiership Le Roux was named in the 2017/18 Team of the Season.

In May 2018 Le Roux was recalled into the Springbok squad by new Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus having last featured for the national during the 2016 June Internationals against Ireland.

He went into the test season in fantastic form after setting a Premiership record of 21 try assists during the regular season.

As of the 2018/2019 Champions Cup, Le Roux has had 6 Champions Cup appearances scoring 1 try and 5 points.

In January 2019, Wasps confirmed that Le Roux would be leaving the club at the end of the 2018/19 season.

March 2019 saw him sign a deal with Japanese club Toyota Verblitz.
