Uruguayan, Caffera played as scrum-half for Los Teros (Uruguay) in the RWC
2003 and was part of the coaching staffs of Los Teros in the RWC 2015 and
Los Condores (Chile) in the RWC 2023.
In 2025 he was the head coach of Brazil Women at the Rugby World Cup
