5 Winners & Losers from British & Irish Lions v Australia team announcement
- 1968
Andy Farrell has named his team to take on the Wallabies in the First Test of the tour in Brisbane on Saturday and we have made our selection of winners and losers from the squad announcement.
Winners
The Glasgow Warriors and Scotland midfield pair of Sione Tuipulotu and Huw Jones.
While Bundee Aki has been on form, the partnership of Tuipulotu and Jones has been incredibly successful for the Lions and they will want to keep it that way, building form and consistency throughout the tour.

Tom Curry
Even though Jac Morgan will feel hard done by Andy Farrell, we cannot take away from the fact that Curry has emerged victorious in a hard-fought contest for the number seven jersey, earning selection over Morgan and Josh van der Flier.
Tadhg Beirne
Farrell has opted for experience putting Beirne on the blindside flank, ahead of 24-year-old Ollie Chessum, who has staked a strong claim for a spot on the team.
Losers
Jac Morgan
The Welsh hope, Jac Morgan, has failed to make the matchday 23 which comes as a shock given the form he has been on during the friendlies against the Australian teams. This is the first time the Lions have named a squad against Australia, New Zealand or South Africa without a Welshman since 1896.

Owen Farrell
Despite a dramatic mid-tour call-up and an encouraging cameo against an AUNZ Invitational side in Adelaide, Farrell has not been included in the matchday 23.
