Six great facts about Bath's Premiership Rugby season

Six great facts about Bath's Premiership Rugby season

Bath are in their second straight Premiership Rugby Final and have cruised there after a sensational season. Here are some team and player facts from the beginning of Round 1 against Northampton at home until the end of the Semi Final win over Bristol.

53 Players used in 19 matches:

10 players of the 53 played just one game in the Premiership this season but one player has been involved in all but one game. Francois van Wyk missed only the game against Saracens in the final round of the regular season. Finn Russell and Tom Dunn both played in 17 games this season.

When it comes to minutes played it is a very different picture with Finn Russell topping the charts having played 1297 minutes. He was followed by Tom de Glanville (1181) and Ben Spencer (1027)

Big Hitters:

Tom Dunn has made 14 dominant tackles in 17 games this season, Thomas du Toit is 11 off 15 and four players have made 10, Ted Hill (15 games), Guy Pepper (14), Miles Reid (12) and Arthur Green. The eye opening part of Green's defence is he did it in just four games.

Kicking Kings:

It is no surprise that Ben Spencer and Finn Russell kicked the most from hand but lets have a look at retained kick percentage (minimum 10 kicks)

Name Kicks Retained Percentage
Ben Spencer 171 35 21
Finn Russell 139 18 13
Louis Schreuder 32 4 13
Tom de Glanville 27 1 4
Ciaran Donoghue 18 2 11
Juggernaut:

Every coach is after players that get you over the advantage line with big carries and Alfie Barbeary made 50 dominant carries (35% of his carries) this season. Ted Hill was not far behind with 40 dominant carries (40%) and then Ollie Lawrence with a total 36 making up a blockbuster 57% of his total carries.

Set Piece:

Five players were involved in straight out scrum penalty wins, no surprises that Thomas du Toit is there (17 penalties) but he is joined by Guy Pepper (17), the other three are all on 16 and are Tom Dunn, Quinn Roux and Charlie Ewels.

Charlie Ewels has won 54 line out's off Bath ball with four steals, he is significantly ahead of the next in line, Ted Hill with 32 line out takes and five steals. Ross Molony also has 32 wins but one steal

Magicians:

Finn Russell has proved 24 line break assists this season, double that of Tom de Glanville on 12. Ben Spencer sits on nine and both Max Ojomoh and Orlando Bailey have eight each
