USA out-matched by Scotland in 13 try thrashing
- 564
Scotland produced a dominant performance, overwhelming the USA by 85-0 on home soil at Murrayfield. From the onset it was clear who was in control, as Scotland raced into the lead and never looked back.
The opening try came just five minutes in, when Dylan Richardson drove over from close range. Scotland’s winger duo took centre stage with Duhan van der Merwe marking his 50th cap with two tries, and Darcy Graham grabbing a hat-trick, equalling Van der Merwe’s tally for Scotland’s all-time try-scorer. Jamie Dobie also completed a hat-trick after switching to the wing, while other tries came from Kyle Rowe, skipper Stafford McDowall, George Horne, and Ollie Smith. By half-time the scoreline already read 45-0. Scotland then added 6 more tries in the second half to reach the total of 13 tries.

Scotland’s dominance was reflected not only on the scoreboard but in the match stats: they amassed 883 metres of attack, completed 142 carries, beat 40 defenders, and made 21 clean breaks. In set pieces, Scotland won all 7 scrums they contested and had a 100% line-out success rate (9 won/0 lost) compared to the USA’s 82% line-out success.
Although the USA entered the match with ambition, Scotland’s pace, precision and finishing proved too much for them.
