The son of former 66 test Springbok flanker Andre Venter, Andre-Hugo Venter has a playing style much like his father.
A hard as nails forward, Andre-Hugo is a hard-hitting forward much like his father with the exception that he plays in the front row rather than the back row.
Andre-Hugo showed promising signs that he would follow in his father's footsteps from a young age as he represented the South African school's team in 2019.
Attending the renowned Grey College in Bloemfontein, Venter played two years of first-team rugby for the side and went his entire two senior years unbeaten.
In 2021, Venter was a standout for Maties in the Varsity Cup and his form did not go unnoticed as the Stormers offered him a contract in May 2021.
In June that year he was named on the bench for the PRO14 Rainbow Cup clash against the Bulls.
Stormers head coach, John Dobson, likened the hooker's ability to his father saying: "You can't really see his dad playing hooker... but it's the hooker version of his dad: tough, high speed, high aggression, intense work-rate, very competitive,"
