Duncan Weir, born on May 10, 1991, is a highly skilled Scottish international rugby union player known for his exceptional performances at fly-half. Currently, he represents the Glasgow Warriors, a prominent team in the United Rugby Championship. Weir's rugby journey began during his amateur career, where he honed his skills playing for Cambuslang RFC after completing his education at Cathkin High School.
Weir's talents were quickly recognized, and he was drafted to various clubs to gain valuable experience. He showcased his abilities at Glasgow Hawks during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons. This drafting system allowed him to play for an amateur side when not involved with his professional club. Subsequently, Weir joined Aberdeen GSFP for the 2012-13 season and Stirling County for the 2013-14 season. Continuing his professional career, Weir ventured south to join the Worcester Warriors in the English Premiership. During his time at BT Murrayfield Stadium, he amassed an impressive tally of 221 points in 30 games. In recognition of his consistent form and remarkable contributions, he signed a one-year deal with Worcester Warriors in December 2018, later extending it for another two years.
Weir's dedication and exceptional play earned him a call-up to Scotland's extended Six Nations squad in 2019. His consistent performances, combined with Scotland's decision to suspend Finn Russell, led to another recall ahead of the 2020 Six Nations.
In January 2021, Weir's professional journey came full circle as he returned to the Glasgow Warriors, the club where it all began. His international career has been equally impressive, with 80 points registered from 30 Scotland appearances as of January 13, 2021. As he prepares to rejoin Glasgow, Weir's remarkable achievements include scoring 765 points for the Warriors, a feat surpassed only by Dan Parks and Tommy Hayes.
