Jaco Kriel

21st Aug 1989 1.84m/100kg Openside Flanker

Kriel plays for the Lions in the Super Rugby and the Golden Lions in the Currie Cup and has become one of the most respected members of the Lions' squad.

The 2015 Lions Forward of the Year undoubtedly fought for a spot in the Springboks' 2015 Rugby World Cup squad and has remained one of the standout performers in Lions' colours.

In June 2016, the Golden Lions Rugby Union confirmed that the Springbok flanker will head to Japan after his Springbok commitments to take up a contract with the Kubota Spears.

Kriel made his Springbok debut, off the bench, in South Africa's 19-13 victory over Ireland in 2016.

He currently has 69 Super Rugby caps and has scored 105 points as he heads into the 2018 Super Rugby season.

An injury during the 2017 Rugby Championship meant that Kriel would miss the majority of the 2018 Super Rugby season.

In April 2018 the Lions confirmed that Kriel would join English Premiership side Gloucester at the end of the 2018 Super Rugby season.
