Alex Black

13th Mar 1990 1.78m/88kg Scrum Half

Black's relentless attitude and abrasive physicality have seen him live up to his billing as a prospect with a bright future ahead and earned him a two-year contract extension in the spring of 2012, making his debut against Cardiff and making four appearances in his first season. Alex has represented Scotland at under-17, 18, and 19 as well as North Yorkshire (under-14 to 18), Yorkshire (under-15 to 18), North of England (under-16 and under-18), and Scottish Exiles (under-16 to 18), captaining the Yorkshire and Exiles teams. He appeared in all six Scotland under-18 matches in March/April 2008, including the three in the Six Nations Festival in Cork, Ireland. His under-19 debut was in March 2009 when Scotland beat their Italian contemporaries at Lasswade, Edinburgh and a month later he scored a try against France under-19 at Dourdan. The following year he was selected for (and started all but one of) the 10 2010 U20 6 Nations and the U20 IRB JWC matches in Argentina.
